A success story

Pagėgiai consultant Aistė Marozienė told how a Well-being consultant can help you control negative thoughts and improve your emotional well-being:

A 36-year-old married woman, mother of two children, signed up for a consultation. The client complained about constant anxiety and self-doubt when raising children. During the consultations, cognitive behavioral therapy techniques were used to understand where the client’s anxiety comes from and find ways to manage it. We looked for errors in the client’s thinking, one of which is black-and-white all-or-nothing thinking. This means that the woman was convinced that she had to be ideal, and if she did something sub-ideal, the obsessive thought arose that she was a bad mother. We looked for supporting and refuting evidence for this belief. We conducted experiments, deliberately doing things related to children in a non-ideal way, with the aim of making the woman feel that everything does not always have to be perfect and nothing bad happens. We used the cognitive continuum method, which allowed the woman to realistically perceive the efforts and time she spends as a mother for the well-being of her children, which helped the client stop nagging and blaming herself, relax and enjoy motherhood more.

The success story of this welfare consultant shows how often the problem is created in our own mind and all we need to do is understand this and learn to curb negative thoughts immediately before the situation gets out of control. We invite all residents of Pagegiai municipality who want to improve their emotional health to register for a consultation.
